Colored Natural

For the past couple of months, I've been wanting to color my hair.  Whenever I'm going thru creative drama, I take it out on myself externally (e.g. wanting a piercing, cutting or coloring my hair, wanting a tattoo).  What is that about?  I've been thinking about what color I may want for months now and still couldn't decide between red, auburn, blonde, highlights and of course leaving it the natural black that it is.  Below are a few colors that I like.  Keep in mind that although I'm creative, I work in a condervative environment, so some colors wont do.

Any plans to color for the Spring/Summer season?  What color are you going with?

The mix of colors in her curls is divine

I love the white blinde look, just not sure it would look good against my skintone?
I think I can get away with this color blonde without looking crazy

This color is too gorgeous for words and that purple lip??  FAB!

Never done red before, but this is dope.  Looks more purple on this screen

These two colors might be my best best

I am so feeling this teal over blonde color.  I would give a right arm to do something like this if just for a day.

FabFit Challenge - April Updates

I was planning on updating my FabFit Challenge stats at the end of April.  Today is good though, because I had to go get weighed at my doctor's office.  So, I didn't make my personal goal for the month.  I really wanted to be a certain weight by Mother's Day (my first one - muey EXCITED), but I did lose a few pounds.  I'm going to have to SQUEEZE into my MDO (Mother's Day Outfit). Here goes...

Stats:

Pre-Pregnancy Weight: 165lbs
March's Weight: 170lbs
Current Weight: 167lbs
Short-term Goal Weight: 160lbs
Long-term Goal Weight: 155lbs

My weight is coming off surely, but quite slowly.  I've cut back quite a bit, but can take it up a notch with lowering the amount of breads/cereals I eat. I try to get to the gym at least four times a week, although last week was a bust due to our first family vacation.  This week was a bust because I'm dealing with a health issue (urgh).  Hopefully, I can resume soon.

Spring Trends - Bright Color and Stripes

I am not a trendy girl:  color has always been my thing.  I wear bright colors all year long.  Yes, even through the dreary winter.  So, when I saw that color was one of the 'IT' things this season, I was part happy and part like 'ummm, okay??'  I must admit that for the first time in my life, black was my go to wardrobe color, but lets's chalk that up to leftover baby weight.  Anywho, I picked these beauties up at the beginning of the year.  Winter went  it by so quickly, I didn't have a chance to wear them.  Also, I finally got a striped jacket.  I stalked it till the price dropped ($79 was the original and I got it for $31).  Haven't worn it yet, either...smh

From left to right: Neon pink sweater - Zara, Highlighter yellow jacket - GAP, Coral
Academy jacket - GAP

Navy and White Jacket - GAP (yes, I'm a little OCD with the GAP. I always find great deals)

FabFit Challenge

This week marks seven months since I had my little miracle baby.  Not sure how much longer I can use 'I just had a baby' as an excuse for the extra weight, though.  Now, I must pat myself on the back because I was in the gym as soon as December rolled around, but now I need to rev up my routine.  I have big plans for my first Mother's Day and I've already bought my dress: a European made size 8, so you know it's really a 4...HA!  This year will also be my 10th wedding anniversary...PRAISE GOD!  I want to look better than I did when I first tied the knot.  I have a bit of time before my anniversary, but Mother's day is right around the corner.  Anywho, it's time to really get serious about getting a portion of my body back.

Stats:

Height - 5'8" (I've been claiming 5'7" for the longest time??)
Pre-pregnancy weight - 160lbs (before meds)
Pre-pregnancy weight - 165lbs (after IVF meds)
Highest Weight - 205lbs (during pregnancy)
Current Weight - 170lbs
Short-term Goal Weight - 160lbs
Long-term Goal Weight - 150lbs (I actually will be happy at 155 - my baby gave me a nice little booty and I don't want to lose it..lol)

Eventhough I've had my baby, I'm still dealing with PCOS symptoms, so it takes me a little longer to get this weight off.  I could  starve myself, but that's not an option. So, I plan to eat more often as I usually do, try and lower my carb and sugar intake (especially before bed) and work out 4-5 times per week(a mix of weight training, cardio and pilates).  The food is the hard part for me.  I'm also taking B-vitamins because I heard it's really good for PCOSers and may start taking D-Chiro-Inositol again (natural supplement that acts like metformin - also good for PCOSers).

That's it in a nutshell.  Pray for me.

Pictures coming soon.

Check out my bestie supermommy Porfiria Gomez, who is also trying to get her FabFit on after having three kids.

Project Runway Season 10

Are you guys ready?  I mean REALLY ready for the new season of Project Runway?  It's one of my favorite times of year and has consistently been one of my top 5 shows.  I was counting down the months, days, hours.  Can't wait to of course look at what the new designers will bring, but I LIVE for Heidi's wardrobe (on the show, not off) and smart comments and I live for Michael Kors' facial expressions..lol.  Anywho, will you be watching?  For more info on this season and to check out the list of new designers, click here!

MAC Fashion Sets

I have been on a serious shopping freeze for most of this year.  Before I purchased the glosses below, I don't think I stepped in a  MAC store in months.  I'm trying to save a certain amount of dollars (I made my goal the week before last by the way) and nothing was going to get in my way...lol  Anywho, this mini collection was kind of exciting for me.  These Fashion Sets include corresponding gloss, lipstick and nail colors.  Since I'm not a huge fan of MAC nail polishes and most of the lipsticks in this collection are permanent, I immediately purchased the lipglosses that would be LE (limited edition) items.

What I Got....

Left to Right: Impassioned Lipglass, Chestnut Lipglass, Morange Lipglass and Rebel Lipgass

I really would like one more colored gloss, Angel.  I was a big fan of the lipstick back in my clubbing days and I think I want to revisit. I'll try and upload how the colors look on my actual lips.  So far, Impasioned and Rebel are my absolute FAVS!

What I Wore - Outfit of The Day

For some reason, this outfit looked better in my head than they do in pictures? Oh well. These jeans were a SCORE from Anthropologie. Jeans I had been stalking for months, but what's new...lol.  Originally they were $198 and I got them for...........$19!  You can't see it but they are actually high-waist, bell-bottom jeans.  I had to hem them because I thought they were too long. I think I will pull it out because I think NOW, they are too short??

Top: Vintage/Thrift, Jeans: Adriano Goldschmied Farrah Jeans, Shoes: Lucky Brand, Hat: c/o Daffy's

My Hair from Kinky to Straight

Last month, after many a frustrations, I decided to get my hair professionally straightened.  I think it was EXACTLY what I needed!  I hadn't had it this straight since having a relaxer (I've had my hair professionally blown out, but not like this).  Although I enjoyed having it like this for awhile (just put it in a ponytail and go), it also made me appreciate my natural texture all the more.

Black Out

Today, I decided to stop in the neighborhood Sephora to pick up a free sample mentioned in a magazine. So, this in itself is a joke, because when I go to Sephora I can't just go in for what I went for. After spending 55 minutes more than I wanted to and was finally about to make my purchase, the cashier reminding me of one of the most talked about mascaras to date: Diorshow Black Out Mascara. I've avoided the mascara for months, but today I said "what the hell." I immediately came home to try out this famous product. I was NOT dissapointed. The product was every bit of what I heard about it. It lengthened, provided drama and volume. I'm even privy to say that it was worth every dollar of the 24 I paid for it. My MAC Zoom Lash is the only other mascara that provides this kind of 'WOW' factor, but it takes more coats to get there.

This product gets two thumbs up!

MAC NEO Sci-Fi Collection

If you are BrownFace that likes to play it safe with your make-up choices, I would suggest you run out and buy some products from this collection. It is very brown girl friendly. The shadows are for very natural looks and so are the lipglasses. Actually, the lipglasses are my favorite products in this collection. Other than that, this collection was not very impressive if you love color or drama. View the full collection at www.maccosmetics.com.
